At Kirsan Engineering we are proud to be leaders in the production of custom castings, a capability strengthened by our expertise in custom designed workholding. We provide machined die castings, permanent molds, and sand castings to customers across a spectrum of industries including automotive, medical, mining, military, energy and transportation. Our castings are used for the reliable production of components in a variety of sizes and configurations, with exceptional part to part dimensional consistency. Products we have created castings for include crutch legs, housings, oil case, valve body, end covers, and much more.

Castings are created to customer requirements utilizing our state of the art equipment including Mazak horizontal CNC machining centers, lathes, and Multiplex machines. Our custom designed fixturing and tooling is employed to hold parts during machining. Fixtures are manual clamping and we have the added advantage of our patented spindle actuated hydraulic system for clamping. Castings are machined from aluminum, cast iron, and steel, with 16 Ra machined finishes, down to a 4Ra finish when ground or lapped. We achieve tolerances of .0002" on GD&T features when ground, and meet the following standard tolerances of ±0.005" (XXX), ±0.010" (XX), ±0.015" (X), and ±1° angular. Casting performance is improved with a range of finishing options. Anodizing and hard anodizing finishes increases wear, heat, and abrasion resistances. Melonite is a thermochemical treatment that improves surface properties including hardness, corrosion resistance, heat and wear resistance. Other finishing options include impregnation, grinding, and all types of painting.

We operate in a culture of quality; ensuring customer castings meet stringent industry standards and the highest levels of accuracy with our rigorous testing and inspection protocol. A 100% inspection of all print dimensions including all GD&T features is performed on the first piece of each production run. In-process and post production inspections are carried out based on critical features, and other identifiers necessary to track tooling wear such as surface finish. Volume capabilities range from 25 to 10,000, and we offer inventory management programs with shipping from our facility.
